Since the release of the first SMOK Nord in 2018, the devices in the SMOK Nord series have been some of the most popular pod vapes on the market. Combining the convenience and sleek design of a pod system with high-end features like adjustable power and replaceable sub-ohm coils, the Nord series has been a huge hit for SMOK because it strikes a great balance between power and portability.
As of 2024, the only real knock against the Nord series was that the devices were beginning to look a little long in the tooth and hadn’t really received a significant visual update in a while – but the SMOK Nord GT has now arrived to change all that. We think that the Nord GT is objectively the most beautiful Nord device that SMOK has released yet, and it’s definitely the most capable device in the series as well. If you own a previous device in the Nord series and have been holding off on upgrading, there’s no reason not to grab the Nord GT right now – especially given this device’s extremely attractive price.
So, what makes the SMOK Nord GT special, and why should you make it your next vape? To find those things out, you’ll just have to read our review.

How Much Does the SMOK Nord GT Cost?
The SMOK Nord GT kit costs only $26.49 and includes the Nord GT device along with one pod, two coils, a USB-C charging cable and an instruction manual. This device uses Nord GT pods, which cost $5.95 per box of three. Adding a box of replacement pods to your order is optional but recommended if you like switching between different flavors frequently. We also strongly suggest grabbing a box of SMOK RPM3 coils, which cost $12.49 per pack of five. That way, you’ll have plenty of spares available in case you happen to make a mistake that causes a coil to burn out prematurely.

Features
- The Nord GT has the highest battery capacity of any Nord vape released to date: 2,500 mAh. You can be very confident that you’ll get plenty of life out of this device, which is a good thing because no other Nord device has produced bigger clouds than this one.
- Speaking of cloud production, the Nord GT is definitely geared to be ideal for people who prefer the direct-to-lung and restricted direct-to-lung inhaling styles. You can use the Nord GT for mouth-to-lung inhaling, but with the extremely low coil resistances of 0.15 and 0.23 ohm, mouth-to-lung vaping definitely isn’t this device’s main purpose. The very large airflow opening further reinforces that fact.
- The maximum power output of 80 watts is tied with the SMOK Nord 5 as the highest of any device in the Nord range. Once again, this device is definitely built for the biggest cloud production that you can possibly get from a small vape.
- The biggest difference between the Nord GT and previous Nord devices is that it’s undergone a complete visual overhaul. People already got a taste of that with the radically redesigned Nord C. While the Nord C has an aesthetic that’s completely different from anything else in the Nord series, though, the Nord GT adheres a bit more closely to tradition and is definitely recognizable as a Nord device – just one that looks a lot more modern than other recent devices like the Nord 5.
Nord GT vs. Nord 5: What Are the Differences?
The SMOK Nord 5 was released near the end of 2022, which is quite a long time in vaping terms – and it really shows when you look at the specifications of the Nord 5 vs. the Nord GT. Both devices use SMOK RPM3 coils, and both devices have a maximum output of 80 watts. Aside from those similarities, though, the Nord GT is upgraded in every way.
- The Nord GT has a battery capacity of 2,500 mAh, whereas the battery capacity of the Nord 5 is just 2,000 mAh.
- The Nord GT has a larger airflow opening that allows it to produce even bigger clouds.
- The Nord GT has a simplified control scheme that uses a single button for all functions.
- The Nord GT has a higher maximum charging rate of 1.7 amps, compared to the 1.5-amp charging rate of the leather-trimmed Nord 5 and the 1.2-amp rate of other Nord 5 models.
- The biggest difference between the Nord 5 and Nord GT is the way the two devices look. Although the Nord 5 was released just two years ago, it looks much older than that when it’s compared to the tastefully updated Nord GT. Just based on looks alone, this device will be a worthy upgrade for you if you’re currently using the Nord 5.
SMOK Nord GT Not Working? Here’s What to Do
Before we wrap up our review, we’d like to share a little troubleshooting information that you might find handy if your Nord GT ever doesn’t work as it should. SMOK has earned its reputation as a top-flight vape manufacturer by designing some of the world’s most reliable vapes, but any vaping device can experience problems from time to time. Here’s how to fix the most common problems that you might encounter with your Nord GT.
Not Charging
- Replace the charging cable. USB cables wear out very quickly, and replacing the cable will almost always resolve charging issues with any vape.
- Try a different charging source. A vaping device always charges most reliably through a computer. Don’t use a “quick charging” wall adapter for a smartphone.
- Clean the charging port. You can use a non-metal tool like a toothpick to dig out contaminants like dust and lint.
Not Hitting
- Charge the Nord GT. If the screen doesn’t light up when you connect the charging cable, you’ve got a charging issue and need to troubleshoot that.
- Turn the Nord GT on. Press the fire button five times quickly.
- Make sure that the coil is properly installed. If you’re using the Nord GT for the first time, remove the sticker from the bottom of the coil. Make sure that the coil is pushed all the way in with the red locking tab pressed against the flat side of the coil’s base.
- Check for a leak. Remove the pod and dry any condensation under it. If the pod has leaked badly, scroll down to the next section to troubleshoot that issue.
- Replace the coil. If the Nord GT still isn’t hitting, it’s possible that the coil you’re using is faulty or damaged.
Leaking
- Make sure that the coil is properly installed. If the coil isn’t pushed all the way in – with the locking tab in place – the pod may leak from the bottom.
- Close the filling port. If the silicone cover isn’t closed tightly, the pod may leak from the side.
- Don’t overfill the pod. If the pod has too much vape juice in it, it may leak when you close the filling port.
- Don’t puff too hard. You can force excess vape juice out of the pod’s chimney if you use too much air pressure when you vape.
Tastes Burnt
- Reduce the power. The fact that the Nord GT operates at up to 80 watts doesn’t necessarily mean that the coil can handle that much power without burning out. Also, only the 0.15-ohm coil is rated for operation at up to 80 watts. The 0.23-ohm coil has a suggested power range of 20-45 watts.
- Prime your coils when installing them. Putting a little vape juice on the wick openings before installing a new coil helps to ensure that the wick will be completely saturated with e-liquid when you begin vaping.
- Replace the coil. A vape coil will begin to produce a smoky, burnt flavor when e-liquid residue begins to collect on it. Also, your coils won’t last as long if you use heavily sweetened vape juice.

We think that the Nord GT looks quite attractive and believe most vapers will agree.
