Vaporesso XROS 5 Review

For several years now, Vaporesso XROS vapes have been some of the most popular refillable pod systems in the United States and abroad. They’re popular everywhere, and that has a lot to do with the fact that they offer incredible features and performance at very low prices. Another fun thing about the XROS series is that Vaporesso doesn’t release a new device unless it has a compelling new feature that gives users a specific reason to upgrade.

If you’re an XROS 4 owner, let’s just say that the new Vaporesso XROS 5 definitely isn’t lacking in compelling reasons to upgrade. In this review, we’ll tell you exactly what those features are.

You don’t have to be an experienced XROS owner to love the XROS 5. If you’re new to vaping – or just new to the XROS ecosystem – the XROS 5 is a perfect point of entry because Vaporesso went to great lengths to ensure that this device would be easy and enjoyable for newbies.

How Much Does the Vaporesso XROS 5 Cost?

Vaporesso XROS 5 Reviews

The Vaporesso XROS 5 costs just $24.95 at the time of writing. If you’re tired of using disposable vapes and are thinking about stepping up to a longer-lasting refillable device, you’ll find that the XROS 5 is priced competitively enough to make it easy for you to take the plunge.

The XROS 5 kit includes the XROS 5 device along with a 0.6-ohm pod, a 0.8-ohm pod, a charging cable and an instruction manual.

Although the kit comes with two pods, we suggest buying at least one box of replacement pods to ensure that you’ll have plenty on hand. You’ll have the best experience with the new COREX 3.0 XROS pods, which come in boxes of four for $12.88. The XROS 5 works with all XROS pods, though, so you can save a bit of money by using pods from previous generations such as the less expensive COREX 2.0 XROS pods if you like.

Vaporesso XROS 5 vs. XROS 4: What Are the Differences?

In this review, we told you right up front that we believe the XROS 5 is definitely a significant enough upgrade to warrant buying it even if you currently have an XROS 4 that still works fine. Here’s what you can expect when you step up from the XROS 4 to the XROS 5.

  • The XROS 5 has a full-color screen, whereas the XROS 4 uses simple indicator lights.
  • The XROS 5 has full wattage control, but it also offers the same three-level system as the XROS 4 if you prefer that style of vaping.
  • The XROS 5 has a higher battery capacity of 1,500 mAh, while the XROS 4 has a 1,000-mAh battery.
  • The XROS 5 has a faster maximum charging speed of 3 amps, while the XROS 4 charges at up to 2 amps.
  • The XROS 5 and XROS 4 both support all XROS pods, so you can enjoy the flavor benefits of the new COREX 3.0 pods with either device.

Vaporesso XROS 5 Features

Vaporesso XROS 5 Features

High-Resolution Color Display

The most obvious new feature of the XROS 5 is the fact that it replaces the three indicator lights of the XROS 4 with a new full-color screen. It’s not the first XROS vape with a color display – that honor belongs to the XROS 4 Nano – but it is the first in the mainline XROS series. Although the screen is small, it’s bright and very sharp. If anything, the screen seems to have an even higher pixel density than the screen on the XROS 4 Nano.

Having a screen gives you additional opportunities to customize your experience with the XROS 5 by toggling between the different vaping modes, resetting the puff counter and so on. The screen also has six selectable color schemes that allow you to change the way your device looks. You can coordinate the screen with the color of the device’s outer shell or choose a theme that’s bright and stands out – the choice is yours.

Manual or Automatic Vaping Modes

The XROS 5 strikes a great balance between flexibility and simplicity. With full wattage control, adjustable airflow and a huge selection of pods, you’ll have no trouble achieving exactly the vaping experience you’re looking for if you’re an experienced vaper and are picky about your experience.

One of the features of the XROS 4 that people really liked, though, was the fact that it allowed for some control over the device’s intensity and vapor production without being overly complicated. All that you needed to do was click a button to toggle between the three pre-set modes. If you enjoy having that type of simplicity and don’t want to bother with full wattage control, the XROS 5 also offers three pre-set modes that you can use instead. The Eco, Normal and Power modes correspond to the three power levels of the XROS 4.

Full wattage control with the XROS 5 is only available if you’re using a 0.4-ohm XROS pod. With all other pods, you’ll choose from the three pre-set power levels.

New COREX 3.0 Technology

XROS vapes have always been famous for offering incredible satisfaction and flavor quality in extremely small packages, and that’s as true with the XROS 5 as it’s always been. COREX is the name of Vaporesso’s flavor reproduction technology that they’ve put into all XROS pods since the beginning, and the XROS 5 represents the debut of the third generation of that technology.

According to Vaporesso, the new COREX 3.0 technology significantly improves on the previous generation in flavor quality, aroma quality, airflow and coil longevity. Here’s how they’ve done it.

  • The structure of the mesh coil has been changed to a new “hive mesh” shape that increases the coil’s total surface area, generating bigger clouds on demand.
  • The coil material has been changed from a nickel-chrome alloy to a new iron-chrome-aluminum alloy, allowing for more responsiveness and more uniform heating.
  • The airflow path has been widened slightly to create a freer, smoother draw.
  • The wick is made from a new nano-microfiber blend, reducing the width of the individual fibers by 30 percent. This allows for more efficient wicking and increases the total contact between the wick and the coil.
  • The materials have been upgraded for improved heat resistance, allowing the pod to last longer before it requires replacement.

All vapes in the XROS series are compatible with all XROS pods, so you can enjoy the benefits of COREX 3.0 regardless of which device you’re using. The XROS 5, however, is the first device in the series that comes with COREX 3.0 pods in the package.

XROS 5 Isn’t Hitting? Here’s What’s Probably Happening

If the XROS 5 is your first refillable vape, you’re probably used to buying devices that are ready for immediate enjoyment right out of the box – so we need to prepare you for the fact that refillable vapes work a bit differently. If your XROS 5 seems like it’s not hitting out of the box, don’t be alarmed because the solution is probably simple.

The XROS 5 ships with the first pod already installed in the device, and the pod has a sticker on the bottom to ensure that it can’t cause battery drain. You need to remove and discard the sticker before you can start vaping.
