Do you know what’s really not fun in vaping? What’s not fun is wanting to try all of the latest toys and knowing that you can’t because your mod can’t handle them. If you’re using a 40-watt mod, to name a fairly extreme example, you wouldn’t be able to use the vast majority of the tanks on the market today. If your device has a power limit of about 80 watts or lower, in fact, you’re going to find that you have a severely limited selection of tanks available to you. If your mod can’t deliver the wattage required in order to use a tank that you want to buy, it’s time for an upgrade.

Are you the type of person who likes to watch the latest vape gear reviews on YouTube? If you are, then you’ve had the opportunity to see the vaping industry’s relentless technological march in real time. When you first got your current vaping device, you probably watched some reviews of new vape gear on YouTube and thought, “That device looks about the same as mine.”
After some time has passed, though, you’re going to start seeing reviews of vaping products that completely blow your setup out of the water – whether it’s because the device in the video swamps yours in cloud production, because it has some great new feature that your device lacks or some other reason. Your Device Has a Slight Delay Before Firing
At the beginning of the article, we alluded to the fact that vaping devices haven’t necessarily evolved a great deal over the last couple of product generations. For the most part, a new vaping device won’t be particularly different from the device you’re using now. If you already have a dual-battery device, you’ll probably notice that the maximum wattages of vaping devices have also remained about the same for a while. Nobody really needs a vaping device that can operate at 200 watts – let alone higher than that. In general, the latest vaping devices have revamped appearances, but they work nearly the same under the hood.
There is, however, one major exception to that rule.
It was only recently that the manufacturers in the vaping industry finally solved the problem of firing delays and long ramp-up times with vape mods. If you have a vaping device that’s more than a year or two old, you probably find that it almost never starts producing vapor the instant you press the fire button. When you use a higher-end tank, you may also find that you need to puff several times to ramp up the tank’s coil before it starts to produce some real clouds.
This is an area where today’s vape mods really do differ significantly from the mods of a couple of years ago. Although the maximum power output with the best mods has remained somewhere in the range of 200 watts, one thing that’s changed is how the mod actually outputs that power. With a modern vaping device, you’ll get vapor the instant you press the fire button. If you’re using a tank that works best at high wattages, you no longer need to warm the coil up at the beginning of a vaping session. You’ll get big clouds right from the start, even if your coil is completely cold.
If you don’t get big clouds immediately when you push your mod’s fire button, you can be completely certain that your vaping device is out of date and that it’s time for an upgrade.
So, that’s the one absolutely certain sign that it’s time to upgrade your vaping device. What about your tank?
Your Tank Doesn’t Have Mesh Coils Available
The one absolutely certain sign that your vape tank has reached the end of the road is that mesh coils aren’t available for it. If you haven’t been following the latest happenings in the vaping industry, you may not know a great deal about the benefits of mesh coils.
In short, though, mesh coils are so much better than traditional wound coils that virtually every single new vape tank hitting the market today was designed with mesh coils in mind. They generate huge clouds but don’t require high-wattage devices. Their flavor is insane. They’re almost silent during operation and don’t pop or spit. They’re better than traditional coils in every possible way, which basically means that there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t start using a tank with a mesh coil right away.
Mesh coils are so popular, in fact, that many of the manufacturers in the vaping industry have started making mesh coils for almost all of their tanks that are still in production. Even if the tank that you’re using is a couple of years old, there’s a good chance that you can now buy mesh coils for it.
If you can’t buy mesh coils for your tank, though, the manufacturer is most likely phasing that tank out or is planning to do so soon. What does that mean for you? It means that it’s time for you to buy a new tank. If you’re using a sub-ohm tank, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be using a mesh coil right now. You will be incredibly glad to have made the decision to upgrade your tank.
