Nexa Ultra 2 Review

It’s amazing how quickly the top vape brands can iterate on their designs and release new products that add new features and correct the problems with previous versions. That’s exactly what the new Nexa Ultra II is. Although we reviewed the original Nexa Ultra just a few months ago, the replacement is already here – and the one thing that some people didn’t like about the original is already a relic of the past.

Although people loved the clear tank and large e-liquid supply of the original Nexa Ultra, it had a shortcoming in that the installation procedure for the tank – which shipped separately from the main device – was a bit complicated. The Nexa Ultra II resolves that by incorporating the new Juicy Lock system, which debuted with the smaller Nexa Pix. Now, there’s no need to be worried about installing the tank incorrectly because it’s already installed when you buy it.

If you’re looking for a disposable vape with a clear tank and want it to have the highest puff count possible, the Nexa Ultra II is definitely the one you want. In this review, we’ll explain everything that you need to know.

Nexa Ultra II Features

New Juicy Lock System

Nexa Ultra 2 Juicy Lock

The biggest new feature of the Nexa Ultra II is the fact that it uses Nexa’s new Juicy Lock system, which keeps the tank sealed until you're ready to use it but allows you to prepare the device for use in just two easy steps.

The original Nexa Ultra also had a clear tank, but people had trouble getting the device set up because the installation procedure for the tank was too complicated. You had to remove the cover from the post on the inside of the device and line the tank up properly before pushing it in. The post would then pierce the tank’s foil, and the e-liquid would begin to flow. If you lined the tank up improperly or removed the foil seal by mistake, the tank could potentially break or leak.

The Juicy Lock system resolves that issue because the tank is already properly aligned and ready to go when you remove the device from the package. All that you need to do is remove the cardboard spacer separating the device from the tank and push the tank in until it clicks. After you’ve done those two things, the device is ready to go immediately.

The fact that the Nexa Ultra II uses the Juicy Lock system doesn’t just mean that it’s easier to set up – it also keeps the e-liquid fresher because the majority of the vape juice is inside a foil-sealed capsule until you break the seal. If you’ve ever bought a disposable vape that didn’t taste quite right because the vape juice had gone stale, you’re going to love the Ultra II because the Juicy Lock system makes that situation virtually impossible.

Clear Tank

If the Nexa Ultra II is going to be your first vape with a clear tank, prepare yourself for an amazing experience because there may eventually be a time when virtually all of the disposable vapes on the market look and work like this device.

What’s so special about using a vape with a clear tank?

  • A tank looks great. There’s no denying that the Nexa Ultra II really stands out.
  • You can see your e-liquid supply, which eliminates the need for an e-liquid meter on your device’s smart display. Having the ability to observe your vape juice directly is much more accurate than relying on your device’s screen, which is always an estimate at best.
  • It’s less wasteful. Compared to a vape that stores its e-liquid in a wick, a vape with a clear tank will give you more puffs with the same amount of vape juice.
  • You’ll get better airflow and smoother draws because you aren’t trying to force the air through a thick wick designed to hold 20 ml of vape juice.

We’re completely confident that almost all disposable vapes will one day work much the same as the Nexa Ultra II, but there’s an important thing that you need to understand because of how the e-liquid delivery system is implemented in this particular device.

As we mentioned in the Specifications section above, what’s in the tank isn’t the Nexa Ultra II’s entire e-liquid supply. There’s 16 ml of vape juice in the tank and a further 4 ml inside the device, held in a traditional saturated wick. The tank keeps the wick fed automatically while you vape. When the tank is empty, though, the device isn’t completely out of vape juice because there’s still 4 ml of e-liquid in the wick.

In practice, what this means is that you still have to rely on the way the Nexa Ultra II tastes in order to know when it’s truly empty. When the flavor is gone – or you start getting burnt hits – that’s when you’re out of vape juice. You should treat an empty tank as a reminder that you need to have a new vape ready to go soon – but don’t forget that 20 percent of the original e-liquid supply is still there.

Dark Mode Screen Setting

Nexa Ultra 2 Dark Mode

The Nexa Ultra II has all of the standard adjustability features that you’d expect from a modern disposable vape, including two selectable vaping modes and adjustable airflow. The vaping modes work as you’d expect if you’ve ever used a dual-coil vape. In the standard mode, one coil is active. When you switch over to Turbo mode, both coils work in tandem to give you twice as much vapor.

Those features are standard for any recent disposable vape, but the Nexa Ultra II also has a unique addition that you won’t find on most devices: a “Dark Mode” screen setting that makes the device more discreet and also helps to conserve battery life.

By default, the Nexa Ultra II has a wraparound light show that illuminates when you use the device. It’s a colorful “circuit board” theme that makes the entire device light up on each puff. Many people love using a vape that draws the eyes, but there might be times when you want a little more privacy. When you’re in that mood, simply press the button and hold it for three seconds. The light show shuts off, but the battery meter remains visible.

What Are the Best Nexa Ultra II Flavors?

Nexa Ultra 2 Flavors

The Nexa Ultra II has 15 flavors available at launch, and you might be surprised to learn that the selection isn’t exactly the same as that of the original Nexa Ultra. The good news, though, is that you’ll have plenty of new options to try because this device includes a some Nexa classics along with a few flavors that are entirely new.

If you want to see everything that’s available, we encourage you to read our comprehensive description of all Nexa flavors. If you’re just looking for a quick recommendation, though, here are a few of our favorite options that are available for the Nexa Ultra II.

  • Black Cherry: Nexa’s Black Cherry flavor is simply one of the tastiest cherry flavors that you can buy today. It’s got a good blend of “fresh fruit” and “fruity candy” notes, which is exactly what a great cherry vape should taste like.
  • Miami Mint: Miami Mint is the closest thing to a plain menthol option in the current Nexa Ultra II flavor lineup. It’s a crisp, smooth menthol flavor with a lingering mixed citrus note that adds a bit of variety and interest.
  • White Gummy: If you like candy-flavored vapes, you’ll find it hard to resist Nexa’s White Gummy flavor. It’s got a nice whiff of tropical pineapple layered over a very realistic gummy candy base.

Nexa Ultra II Review: Our Expert Perspective

Nexa Ultra 2 Reviews

A clear e-liquid tank has huge benefits for a disposable vape, and Nexa was one of the first companies to embrace that design paradigm with the Nexa Ultra earlier this year. The original Ultra was a great vape, but a few people shied away because setting it up was too complicated. You can always count on a top brand like Nexa to fix their mistakes, though, and that’s exactly what they’ve done with the Nexa Ultra II. This device gives you all of the benefits of a clear tank – but with the new Juicy Lock system, the only drawback is eliminated. You’re going to be a big fan of this device.
