Flum Mello Pro Review

The Flum vape brand has quietly been one of the vaping industry’s most successful brands over the past few years. Flum doesn’t seem to have the massive marketing budget of some other companies, but they’ve built their following organically with a great flavor selection and friendly, pastel-hued devices that people really seem to enjoy looking at and holding.

As much as people love older devices like the Flum Pebble, though, some of Flum’s fans have been waiting for the company to embrace modern features like smart displays and adjustable power. With the new Flum Float Mello and Mello Pro, that day is finally here. In this review, we’ll explore these two new additions to Flum’s already weighty legacy.

View the Flum Float Mello or Mello Pro now. These new vapes last up to 20,000 puffs and bring the Flum flavors that you love into the modern age.

How Much Do the Flum Mello and Mello Pro Cost?

  • The Flum Float Mello costs $17.95 at the time of writing and is advertised to last up to 20,000 puffs.
  • The Flum Mello Pro costs $17.45 at the time of writing and is advertised to last up to 50,000 puffs.

The reason why the Mello and Mello Pro are so close in price is because they’re really not that different in their capabilities, which we’ll explain in the next section.

Flum Mello vs Mello Pro: What’s the Difference?

Flum Mello Features

At first glance, the Flum Mello and Mello Pro look more or less the same. They’re also priced similarly, and that’s because their features are fairly similar. The Mello Pro is a slightly more advanced version of the Mello. The Mello, however, has been around a little longer and has a bigger flavor selection. Here’s how the Mello vs. Mello Pro differ.

  • The Mello Pro has a dual-coil configuration with two selectable power levels. It also has adjustable airflow. The Mello has fixed airflow and only one power level.
  • The Mello has 29 different flavors available at the time of writing, while the Mello Pro has 13 flavors.

So, if you want more flavors, you should choose the Flum Mello. If you want adjustable power and airflow, you should buy the Mello Pro. Note that despite the higher advertised puff count, the Mello Pro has the same amount of vape juice (15 ml) as the Flum Mello. The higher puff count is just to keep up with the way that other brands are measuring their puff counts these days.

What’s the Difference Between the Flum Mello and the Float Mello?

When you search for the Mello and Mello Pro online, you’ll notice that the terms “Flum Mello” and “Float Mello” are used almost interchangeably. These terms don’t refer to different devices. Flum recently went through a rebranding process and are now called Float. For now, the devices will still say “Flum Mello.” In the near future, though, devices that say “Float Mello” will begin to arrive in vape shops.

Flum Mello and Mello Pro: Features

Whether you buy the Flum Mello or Mello Pro, you can look forward to getting a vape that combines the Flum flavors you love with the features of a completely modern vape. Here are the key features that set the Mello and Mello Pro apart.

High-Quality Smart Display

The first thing you’ll notice when unpacking the Flum Mello and turning it on is that this device is equipped with a high-resolution screen – a first for any Flum vape. The Flum Pebble uses a simple indicator light to show its status, and the newer Flum UT Bar has a segmented display. Both systems work, but the Flum Mello is much more visually impressive. While you vape, the screen shows indicators for the battery’s charge level and the approximate remaining e-liquid supply. It changes to show a charging indicator when the device is charging. Is the screen a novelty? Sure. Everyone enjoys using a vape that looks nice, though, and the Flum Mello is easily one of the most attractive vapes on the market right now. Note that the Mello Pro, while still very visually appealing, has a more traditional segmented display.

Legendary Flum Flavor Selection

Flum obviously didn’t invent the idea of a vape with a color display, nor did they invent the adjustable vape in the case of the Mello Pro. Reinventing the wheel isn’t the point of these devices. The point is to deliver the classic Flum flavors that people love in a more modern package with the features that they increasingly expect. Although the flavor selections for the Flum Mello and Mello Pro aren’t quite as large as that of the Flum Pebble, you’ll find that most of the classics have been brought over. If you’re new to Flum vapes, we’ll discuss the flavors at greater length shortly.

Modern Adjustability

Adjustability is one of the things that people really enjoy in today’s disposable vapes. A modern dual-coil design makes it possible for you to use just one coil for smoothness or both coils simultaneously for bigger clouds and bolder flavors. If you’ve tried earlier Flum vapes and didn’t quite find them satisfying enough, the adjustable power of the Flum Mello Pro will be a game changer for you.

Great Ergonomics

We mentioned how nice the Flum Mello and Mello Pro look earlier in this review, and the new screen isn’t the only reason why these devices look so nice. We also appreciate the gently sloping shape, which is a Flum trademark dating all the way back to the Flum Pebble. The shape makes the device seem very small despite the generous 15 ml e-liquid supply, and the Mello is also very comfortable to hold.

What Are the Best Flum Mello Flavors?

Flum Mello Flavors

Flum’s flavor selection is absolutely enormous, so discussing every option that’s available for the Mello and Mello Pro would be outside the scope of this review. If you’re already a Flum fan, you probably know what you like and will be glad to know that your favorite flavors are most likely available for these devices. If you’re new to Flum, though, here’s a short list of some of our favorite Flum Mello flavors.

  • White Gummy: People have a wide variety of tastes when it comes to candy-flavored vapes. If we had to guess which candy flavor is most popular, though, we’d say that it’s probably White Gummy. People absolutely love the blend of gummy candy and slightly tart pineapple, and Flum’s version of this classic flavor is a real winner.
  • Clear: If you enjoy a vape with a simpler flavor profile, you’ll probably appreciate Flum’s straightforward Clear flavor. It’s completely unflavored aside from a mild cooling element, and that allows the peppery flavor of the nicotine and the mild sweetness of the vegetable glycerin to come through.
  • Raspberry Cranberry: Flum has a well-deserved reputation for creativity, and the fact that they’re one of the few companies with a cranberry-flavored vape is a perfect illustration of why. As you’d expect from the name, Raspberry Cranberry delivers a good amount of tartness and is easily one of the most complex flavors in the Flum Mello flavor lineup.
  • Spearmint Watermelon: Speaking of creative flavors, Spearmint Watermelon has got to be on your must-try list if you’re interested in experiencing a vape that presents the classic “watermelon ice” flavor profile in a completely new light. Instead of combining watermelon with plain menthol, this flavor uses a spearmint note to almost make it feel like you’re eating fresh watermelon with shaved mint sprinkled on top.
  • Miami Mint: Here’s another one for the mint lovers out there. Miami Mint starts with a blast of mint that’s strong and cold. As the flavor develops, though, you’ll notice an undertone of mixed citrus fruits. There’s no menthol vape quite like this one, and the uniqueness has helped to make Miami Mint one of the most popular flavor profiles in vaping today.

Flum Mello and Mello Pro Review: Our Expert Perspective

If you’re a former Flum Pebble user who switched to something else when all of the other manufacturers started releasing devices with color screens and adjustable power, the Flum Mello and Mello Pro are designed to bring you back into the fold. They’ve got the features you want and the flavors you love, which should make them easy winners for just about everyone.

Best Points

  • Uses a true high-resolution color screen rather than a less expensive segmented display (Mello only)
  • Classic Flum flavors appear in a device with adjustable power for the first time (Mello Pro only)
  • Great ergonomic characteristics; very comfortable to hold

Could Be Improved

  • We would like to see a more consistent standard for the number of puffs a vape should be expected to produce
