What Do the Letters Mean in Uwell Caliburn Devices?

Caliburn Vape Guide

With vaping products that have been around as long as the Uwell Caliburn Series, the naming schemes for the devices may not always make a lot of sense. That’s definitely the case with Uwell Caliburn vapes. What’s the difference between the Uwell Caliburn G and Caliburn A devices? What about the Caliburn K series? Before we discuss the specific features of the individual devices, here’s an overview of what the letters actually mean. Once you understand Uwell’s naming conventions, you’ll see that the device names actually do follow a certain logic.

  • Caliburn: This is the original device in the Uwell Caliburn series, and it uses a pod with a built-in coil. Although the original Caliburn is no longer in production, the basic design elements of this device have been carried forward with the Caliburn A series.
  • Caliburn A Series: This series continues the basic design elements of the original Caliburn, utilizing the traditional vape pen shape and pods with built-in coils.
  • Caliburn G Series: This series has the same vape pen shape as the Caliburn A series, but devices in the Caliburn G series have pods with replaceable coils except the Caliburn G3, which is a departure for this series.
  • Caliburn K (Koko) Series: Devices in this series have a compact box shape instead of a narrow vape pen shape. As with the original Caliburn series, there are no longer any new devices bearing just the name “Caliburn K.” All new devices have either the “AK” or “GK” designations.
    • Caliburn AK Series: Devices in the Caliburn AK series have a compact box shape and use pods with built-in coils.
    • Caliburn GK Series: Devices in the Caliburn GK series have a compact box shape and use pods with replaceable coils.
  • Caliburn S Series: The “S” designation indicates that the device comes with a side-filling pod rather than a top-filling pod. This designation applies only to devices in the Caliburn A series, and it doesn’t cause incompatibility with the other Caliburn A device from the same generation. For example, the Caliburn A3 and A3S pods are interchangeable with one another and work with both the Caliburn A3 and A3S devices.
  • Caliburn Z (Zega) Series: Devices in the Caliburn Z series have a slightly squat shape that provides room for a larger battery cell. All devices in this series have either the “AZ” or “GZ” designation.
    • Caliburn AZ Series: Devices in the Caliburn AZ series have a squat shape and use pods with built-in coils.
    • Caliburn GZ Series: Devices in the Caliburn GZ series have a squat shape and use pods with replaceable coils.
  • Caliburn X Series: The Caliburn X offers advanced features like variable wattage. At the time of writing, only one Caliburn X device has been produced. Some of its features have been added to other Caliburn products.
  • Caliburn Tenet Series: Devices in the Caliburn Tenet series have a metallic steampunk aesthetic.
  • Caliburn Ironfist Series: This device has a side-by-side design that’s unique among all Caliburn vapes.
  • Caliburn Explorer Series: This device has a dual-chambered pod that allows you to alternate between two flavors on demand or enjoy two different flavors simultaneously.

Uwell Caliburn Coils: Compatibility List

Uwell Caliburn A Series

With the compatibility information out of the way, we’ll continue our Uwell Caliburn guide with a list of every Uwell Caliburn device that has ever been created. Many of these devices are still in production today, so this section of our guide should be very helpful in helping you decide which one is the right fit for you.

Uwell Caliburn A devices are narrow in shape like traditional vape pens, and they use pods with built-in coils.

Uwell Caliburn (Original Device)

Uwell Caliburn

  • Battery Capacity: 520 mAh
  • Charging Port: Micro USB
  • Coil Resistance: 1.4 ohm
  • Operating Power: 11 watts
  • Firing Style: Automatic and manual

The original Uwell Caliburn is effectively the first Uwell Caliburn A, since all devices in the Caliburn A series have essentially the same design. The original Caliburn is no longer in production today, but it was revolutionary at the time of its release because it was the first refillable pod system to feature the same type of coil that would be used in a full-sized vape tank. Before the Caliburn, pod systems had much smaller coils with silica wicks. They weren’t known for their flavor quality or vapor production. The Caliburn changed that forever.

Uwell Caliburn A2

Uwell Caliburn A2

  • Battery Capacity: 520 mAh
  • Charging Port: USB-C
  • Coil Resistance: 0.9 ohm
  • Operating Power: 15 watts
  • Firing Style: Automatic and manual

The Uwell Caliburn A2 might have been called the Caliburn 2. By the time it was released, though, the Caliburn G was already out. So, Uwell went with the “G” and “A” monikers to signify devices with and without replaceable coils.

One of the biggest shortcomings of the original Caliburn was the fact that you couldn’t really see how much e-liquid was in the pod unless you removed the pod. The Caliburn A2 has a large window to eliminate that problem. The Caliburn A2 also features a redesigned pod with improved airflow and vapor production.

Uwell Caliburn A2S

Uwell Caliburn A2S

  • Battery Capacity: 520 mAh
  • Charging Port: USB-C
  • Coil Resistance: 1.2 ohm
  • Operating Power: 15 watts
  • Firing Style: Automatic only

The Uwell Caliburn A2S features a redesigned pod that has a side-mounted filling port and a translucent mouthpiece. It also has an updated visual design with an eye-catching LED light show. The Caliburn A2S also doesn’t have a fire button and uses puff-based firing only. Otherwise, it’s similar to the Caliburn A2, and the pods are interchangeable between the two devices.

Uwell Caliburn A3

Uwell Caliburn A3

  • Battery Capacity: 520 mAh
  • Charging Port: USB-C
  • Coil Resistance: 1.0 ohm
  • Operating Power: 13 watts
  • Firing Style: Automatic and manual

The Uwell Caliburn A3 is an incremental upgrade over the previous model. It features a redesigned pod with improved flavor quality and a faster charging time of 15 minutes.

Uwell Caliburn A3S

Uwell Caliburn A3S

  • Battery Capacity: 520 mAh
  • Charging Port: USB-C
  • Coil Resistance: 0.8 or 1.0 ohm
  • Operating Power: 16 watts
  • Firing Style: Automatic only

The Uwell Caliburn A3S has the same improvements as the Caliburn A3, but it uses a pod with a side filling hole. It also has a maximum power of 16 watts and offers increased vapor production.

Uwell Caliburn G Series

Uwell Caliburn G devices are narrow in shape like the devices in the Caliburn A series, but they have pods with replaceable rather than permanent coils except for the Caliburn G3, which is a departure for the series.

Uwell Caliburn G

Uwell Caliburn G

  • Battery Capacity: 690
  • Charging Port: USB-C
  • Coil Resistance: 0.8 ohm
  • Operating Power: 18 watts
  • Firing Style: Automatic and manual

The Uwell Caliburn G was the first Caliburn device to use a pod with replaceable coils. It’s difficult to find today since it’s now a few generations old. It was the first Caliburn device with adjustable airflow; you could change the airflow by removing and reversing the pod. The Caliburn G was also notable for having a significantly higher battery capacity and wattage than the original Caliburn.

Uwell Caliburn G2

Uwell Caliburn G2

  • Battery Capacity: 750 mAh
  • Charging Port: USB-C
  • Coil Resistance: 0.8 or 1.0 ohm
  • Operating Power: 18 watts
  • Firing Style: Automatic and manual

With the Uwell Caliburn G2, Uwell ditched the reversible pod of the Caliburn G and replaced it with a new pod that had an airflow control dial at the bottom. The Caliburn G2 uses a haptic vibration system to keep you apprised of what’s going on with the device. It also has a greater battery capacity than the Caliburn G.

Uwell Caliburn G3

Uwell Caliburn G3

  • Battery Capacity: 900 mAh
  • Charging Port: USB-C
  • Coil Resistance: 0.6, 0.9 or 1.2 ohm
  • Operating Power: 25 watts
  • Firing Style: Automatic or manual

Almost everything about the Uwell Caliburn G3 represents a major departure from what came before. Instead of using a pod with a replaceable coil, the Caliburn G3 has three different pods that all have built-in coils. The Caliburn G3 also features a much larger battery and full wattage adjustment up to a maximum power of 25 watts. Although there’s no doubt that the Caliburn G3 offers dramatically more power than the previous Caliburn G devices, it remains to be seen whether the public will accept a Caliburn G device without replaceable coils.

Uwell Caliburn K (Koko) Series

After the release of the original Uwell Caliburn, competing companies began to release pod systems with a new mini box shape that proved extremely popular with the public. Uwell responded with the release of the Caliburn Koko, which had the new box shape but also featured the technologies that had made the Caliburn series so popular with the public. The Caliburn K series has been very successful.

Unlike the original Caliburn, the Caliburn Koko offers automatic firing only.

The Uwell Caliburn X was Uwell’s attempt to enter the upscale market by providing a premium version of the Caliburn at a higher price point. It presumably wasn’t entirely successful because most of the advanced features of the Caliburn X have since been added to other Caliburn devices, while the Caliburn X has been discontinued. The Caliburn X features a larger battery than most Caliburn devices. It also has a 3-ml pod, while most Caliburn devices use 2-ml pods. The Caliburn X was the first Caliburn device with fully adjustable wattage.

Uwell Caliburn Z Series

The devices in the Caliburn Z series have an entirely new form factor that the engineers at Uwell have called “Zega.” These devices have a short and stocky shape that enables them to have larger battery cells.

The Uwell Caliburn Explorer represents a significant departure for the Caliburn series – and for vaping devices in general – because it has a dual-chambered pod with two filling ports and two coils. Each chamber has a capacity of 2 ml, so the pod holds 4 ml of e-liquid in all. Using the cross-shaped button on the front of the device allows you to select between the device’s four vaping modes. You can select one side of the pod or the other, or you can have the Caliburn Explorer alternate between the two sides automatically on each puff. You can also vape from both sides of the pod simultaneously, allowing you to mix two flavors and enjoy double the vapor production. As you’d expect from a modern disposable, the Caliburn Bar B6000 features indicator lights to let you know when it’s time to charge the device and when the device is nearly out of vape juice. For this device, Uwell has delivered their own unique versions of some of the most popular disposable vape flavor profiles including Blue Razz Ice, Pineapple Mango, Strawberry Banana and White Gummy.
